FAQs

When do I need to press the white button?

Once setup is finished and you see the "ask" screen, hold the button down while you say what you want to make, then let go.

How do I load paper?

New units come with paper already loaded, so you can print right away. When you need a new roll, have an adult unscrew the screw on the bottom with a #2 Phillips screwdriver, lift the door, drop in the roll with the printable side facing front, and close it. Don't over-tighten.

What happens if the set up process is not working?

Make sure your Wi-Fi is on the 2.4GHz band. Most routers broadcast both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Try moving closer to your router, since a weak signal can interfere with setup.

If it still won't connect, try a factory reset:

  • Hold the white button down.
  • Unplug the device and plug it back in while still holding the button.
  • When the reset finishes, the screen will start back up.

Can I use languages other than English?

Yes. It understands multiple languages, so just speak clearly in the one you prefer.

What is the companion app for?

The parent app helps you set up the device, view and share creations, and manage your settings.

It is not printing. What should I check?
  • The paper may be loaded backwards or not sitting straight.
  • Make sure you are using the official paper.
  • Check that the door is fully closed.
  • Check that the power adapter is firmly connected.
  • If it still won't print, unplug the adapter for 10 seconds, plug it back in and try again.
The print looks faint. What helps?
  • Reload the paper roll or try a fresh one.
  • Pop out the rubber roller at the top of the door, wipe it clean with a cloth, then put it back.
  • Keep paper away from heat and direct sunlight when storing it.
How do I clear a paper jam?

Open the back door and reload the paper roll. Jams sometimes happen when a roll is nearly finished, so if that's the case, just put in a new roll.

Can I use other thermal paper?

No. Only the official paper is supported. Other paper can damage the printer and void your warranty. Our paper rolls are BPA and BPS free.
